General Functions and Indications: invigorate the Spleen nourish qi, damp drying, promote diuresis, suppress sweating, and prevent miscarriage / calm foetus. Used for Spleen deficiency, eating less, abdominal distension and diarrhoea, phlegm damp causing dizziness and palpitations, oedema, spontaneous and excessive sweating, restless foetus.
炒白术 Chao Bai Zhu It strengthens and fortifies the spleen and harmonizes the stomach, supplements the qi more appropriate when middle jiao fails and transforming and transporting function is affected, causing poor appetite, distention, fullness and lethargy. Epigastric and abdominal distension and fullness due to spleen qi deficiency with loss of appetite, borborygmus, loose stools. Food stagnation, middle jiao qi falls due to spleen qi deficiency with a sensation of weight in the stomach, anal prolapse, uterine prolapse. Spontaneous perspiration due to qi deficiency with fatigue, aversion to wind, tendency to catch colds. Restless fetus and threatened abortion due to qi and blood deficiency.
