Ku Shen 苦参

Properties: Bitter, Cold.

Channels: Heart, Liver, Stomach, Large Intestine, Bladder

Functions and Indications: Clearing heat and drying dampness, expelling worms and promoting diuresis. Used for pyretic dysentery, hematochezia, jaundice and urinary retention, red and white vaginal discharge, swelling and itching of the vulva, eczema, damp sores, itchy skin, scabies and leprosy; externally for trichomonas vaginitis.

Usage and dosage: 4.5-9g. For external use in appropriate amounts, decoction of soup to wash the affected area.
