Functions and indications:  Astringe the lung, descend fire, astringe the intestine stop diarrhoea, astringe sweating, stop bleeding, astringe dampness, promote wound healing.  used for lung deficiency causing chronic cough, phlegm heat in the lung causing coughing,  chronic diarrhoea, spontaneous sweating and night sweating, diabetes, blood in stool, haemorrhoid bleeding, external treatment of bleeding, carbunclessores, wet ulceration of the skin.
