Properties: Sweet, Slightly Pungent, Slightly Bitter, Warm
Channels: Spleen, Stomach, Liver
General Functions and indications: Dry dampness, reinforce the Spleen, induce sweating and dispel wind dispel Cold, improve eyesight. Used for damp retention in the middle jiao, abdomen abdominal distension, diarrhoea, oedema , beriberi, wind damp arthralgia pain, wind Cold Cold/ flu , night blindness, dull vision.
Cang Zhu (Chao) 苍术 (炒) Uncooked dispels wind, induces perspiration and eliminates dampness. Once processed it fortifies the spleen, dries dampness, brightens the eyes. It is used for disharmony of the spleen and stomach due to stagnation of damp turbidity in the middle jiao with loss of appetite, epigastric and abdominal distention, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, thick white tongue coating. Summerheat and dampness with fever, chills, vomitng, diarrhoea, cough and a thick white tongue coating.
