Gan Cao 甘草

Properties: Sweet, Neutral.

Channels: Heart, Lung, Spleen, Stomach

Functions and indications: invigorate the Spleen, nourish qi, clear heat remove toxicity, eliminate phlegm stop coughing, alleviate pain, harmonise herbs. used for weak Spleen and Stomach, listlessness, lack of strength, Heart palpitation, short of breath, cough lots of phlegm, abdominal, pain and spasm in the four limbs,  carbuncle inflammation toxin, moderating drug toxicity, drastic action.

Usage and dosage: 2-10g.

Caution:  not suitable for use with Hai Zao, Jing da ji, Hong da ji, Gan Sui, Yan Hua.
