General Functions and indications: promote qi circulation promote digestion, reinforce the Spleen, improve appetite, stop milk secretion, and relieve flatulence / distension. Used for food stagnation with poor digestion, abdomen distending pain , Spleen deficiency lack of appetite , breast milk stagnation, breast distending pain , cessation of milk secretion , Liver depression hypochondriac pain, Liver and Stomach pain due to disorder of qi.

生麦芽 Raw Mai Ya reinforce the Spleen, harmonise the Stomach, disperse the Liver promote qi circulation . Used for Spleen deficiency lack of appetite, breast milk stagnation.

炒麦芽 Chao Mai Ya Disperses food stagnation, harmonizes the stomach, stops diarrhoea, stops lactation. Promote qi circulation promote digestion, stop milk secretion . Used for food stagnation with poor digestion, cessation of milk secretion. Food stagnation with epigastric and abdominal distention, fetid eructations, loss of appetite, nausea, disgust for eating. Loss of appetite due to spleen and stomach def, slow digestion, tasteless mouth. Galactorrhea or maternal weaning. Diarrhoea due to food stagnation with borboryfmus, epigastric and abdominal distention, spleen and stomach yang def with loss of appetite, fatigue a pale complexion, cold limbs.
